Behind all of the work I have accomplished, Unifyed Visuals stands as the backbone and testament to my process. Created in 2017, Unifyed Visuals is the blueprint for my workflow. Through Unifyed, I have completed over 115 projects and had the honor to work with The Fight for 15 Organization, National Dance Education Organization, the Kennedy Center, International Association of Blacks in Dance, and multiple large brands through the Not Old Better Show.

What began as a way for two young artists to create the work they wanted to see became a creative company built around a much bigger idea: good storytelling should help people, brands, and communities see more possibility in themselves.

Since 2017, Unifyed has grown across photography, video production, creative direction, graphic design, social media, and brand strategy. Our work has supported independent artists, small businesses, cultural organizations, national conferences, advocacy campaigns, and projects connected to organizations including the North Carolina Museum of Art, the Kennedy Center, Fight for $15, and the International Association of Blacks in Dance.

Along the way, our marketing work has produced reach increases ranging from nearly 300% to 1,600% across select projects, follower growth between 65% and 120%, and measurable increases in engagement and leads. We have also led multi-person production teams, built long-term client relationships, and continued developing work rooted in accessibility, community, and the belief that serving an audience comes before selling to one.

Nine years later, the equipment is better, the projects are bigger, and the living room has changed. The idea really hasn’t.

behind the backbone of the brand

the first shoot

A Sunday afternoon with friends and testing out new photography equipment we were eager to use turned into the seeds of Unifyed Visuals being planted. Previously, photography had been something I was interested in but not entirely something I believed I could do. I'd focused much of my time on journalism. After six boxes of pizza, a group of college kids, and one long afternoon we looked at the photos, and one of my friends said, "Wow, these are good! You should do this," we realized this could be something more.

building the business

Building the business became an extremely integral part of how I learned many of the skills I have today. I had already obtained my degree in mass communications and had a history with marketing, but now I understood that there was a much larger possibility for these talents. At the time, I'd also been a "full-time artist" and looking to make work by applying to grants, but the standards were high: 4K video, 300dpi photo, full marketing plan, and at the time most artists didn't have access to those tools, let alone in a cost-effective manner. It was in that moment that Unifyed Visuals was truly conceived. Our work began in two spaces of community: helping artists and preserving family/community moments.

where we are now

Nine years later, Unifyed has built a strong foundation within the DMV performing arts community while expanding into advocacy, cultural institutions, community storytelling, events, and brand work. Our next chapter is about taking what we learned serving artists and applying that same people-first creative approach to a wider range of organizations and communities.
